Tech

Tech is a huge part of our lives nowadays. Here are some of my favorite tech & tools.

Phone 📱
My current phone is an iPhone 11. It’s my first iPhone after many years of being an avid Android user. This means that am kind of a hybrid between an Android and iPhone user. I use my Google account for most of my stuff (gmail, drive, calender, photos), because they’re brilliant. But the apps are way better on iPhone and the hardware is as good as any. I use a real solid phonecase from SUPCASE, because both me and my kids tend to drop my phone. A lot.

Headphones 🎧
My Apple Airpods Pro are one of the most, if not the most, important tech items I own. They work exactly as you would want them to. They charge fast, they have good sound, good range and they fit better than any other in-ear headphones I’ve ever tried. The noise cancellation is really good as well. After buying these I’ve listened to so many more podcasts and audio books than I would have without them. Just pop them (or just one) in and you’re set. I use them when I walk to the grocery store, go out for a walk, do some chores. Last summer I used them every day while building a deck. The noise cancellation was great to have for this case. Must have item.

When working on my desktop I use the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Headphones. The sound quality is really crisp and clear, with a good bass. It’s just all around great. I would recommend these to anyone.

Computers 💻
I used to be exclusively a Windows user, but I recently purchased a M1 MacBook Air. There were a few things I needed to get used to, but after a couple of hours it felt alright. Having been (and still being) a Windows user for so many years, I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting to use macOS. As it turns out, expect something that works. At least most of the time. There are still a few things that annoy me, but not enough so that it’s a problem. I should mention though, that the only reason I bought a Mac is to develop iOS apps, so I don’t really do a whole lot of other things with it. I mean, I’m writing this post on it, and I watch some stuff on it occasionally, but all of that is just using the browser. I do love that my phone is synced with the Mac, so that I can answer texts straight from the computer. Kind of awesome. I’m also really have with have compact it is. It’s not that much bigger than an iPad, so traveling with it is just super smooth.

As I wrote, I am still a Windows user too. For the most part I’m a Windows user. I use it as my primary computer at home, and I only use Windows at the office. At home I have a gamer build, which consists of Corsair Crystal 570X cabinet, 3070 Super GPU, Intel i7 8700k processor with Corsair Hydro H150i cooling, 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM and some storage drives. Not top of the line, but more than good enough for me. I not playing nearly as much as I used to either. It’s mainly used for home projects and streaming stuff on the line. I mean online.
